"YES WE CAN"
Many events occurred in the lives of Randy Jurado Ertll and Sopheap Ly that mark them. Randy was born in the U.S, but his mother was deported to her native country El Salvador when he was eight month old. However Sopheap Ly born in Cambodia, and when she was five years old the Khmer Rouge took her and her family to work in the "killing fields". Randy came back to the United States at the age of five to South Los Angeles . Sopheap come to america at age 16. They both graduated from high school and they continued studying. Randy is helping to provides support to low-income youth and community programs for elderly Latinos. Sopheap Ly is a board -certified internist at the VA San Diego Healthcare System. Both are married and have children. Randy wrote a book called HOPE IN TIMES OF DARKNESS. In it related his experience in his early days with other students, how he was discriminated against even though he born in the U.S and his life in L.A. Sopheap Ly also wrote a book called NO DREAM BEYOND MY REACH and related the experience along her live. Sopheap and Randy had early lives that were very sad and difficult but they never lost their hope and never stopped thinking about their objective and they demonstrated that we too can achieve our dream, struggling come what may, come hell or high water.
